Pumpkin-wine Cookies With Glaze

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup walnuts
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup wine (originally used port, i prefer a blush)
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 well beaten eggs
- 1 cup pumpkin
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons wine
Recipe
- 1 soak nuts and raisins in wine for a few minutes.
- 2 cream shortening and sugars together.
- 3 stir in eggs and vanilla and wine mixture.
- 4 add pumpkin (will curdle).
- 5 sift together and add flour, baking powder, salt and spices.
- 6 dough will be stiff.
- 7 drop by teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet.
- 8 bake at 350°f for about 15 minutes.
- 9 in a separate bowl, mix water, powdered sugar and wine.
- 10 when cool, frost with glaze.
